my senior capstone, HEY BIG SPENDER!

Stemming from the musical Sweet Charity, I created a dance piece inspired by the predators of the wild, such as leopards, snakes, and mantises. I wanted to latch onto the creepy essence from Fosse's original stylings, and magnify it. I created 9 custom costumes for my dancers. I wanted to create each costume out of unique materials, such as Denim, Leather, and Velvet. I pushed my dancers to not only dance around their costumes, but with them. Using the rigidity, fluidity or texture of their individual costume to inform both their choreography and the individual character they forged over our time together.
